The exploration of different forms, glaze combinations and firing techniques continues my drive to create each piece. Everyone has unique preferences and the thought that everything I make can be enjoyed somewhere in the world is inspiring.
I fell in love with clay during freshman year in high school pottery class 1991 and have been making pots ever since. 10 years ago I finished building my dream studio which was a major construction project. At the heart of the studio is an old updraft natural gas kiln I manually fire to cone 10+ (2350 degrees Fahrenheit) for 11 - 13+ hours. I’m obsessed with the experimentation process of working with clay, glazes and the fire aspect. I have created different firing schedules to get different results and mix all my glazes (over 200). While I occasionally make functional pots my passion is making pots to feed my ever so growing cactus and succulent collection. I’m fortunate to have found what I love to do, and while it’s not my full time job I spend most of my free time making ceramic art.
