Noel Adams lives and makes her art in Santa Paula, California. She is an artist who has always drawn and painted, but her main focus is ceramics. She prefers hand building, especially pinch pots and slab work, rather than throwing on the wheel. Noel also loves adding graphic line work to her ceramics by painting with underglazes or carving the clay.
“As a hand builder my favorite process is closed form pinch pots. I can lose all track of time when I am compressing, shaping, and refining the clay to the final form that I am after. My work is often influenced by nature, especially plants and birds. I am also drawn to patterns. My tools of chose for those details are a fine line paint brush and a small, sharp carving tool. My ceramics are more about the form and the details rather than function and glaze.”
