I use clay to marry the past to the present. Work that feels ancient and powerful. I take inspiration from ancient work, not from any one place or time – just from makers that are long gone and often times unknown. Using anything on hand to stamp and decorate the surfaces in sections. Each vessel is meant to carry its own life force. The process of ceramics itself invites the maker to reflect on life within its phases: from earth and water to air and fire. Clay has the ability to exist for thousands and thousands of years after I’m no longer here. That is the power I aim to instill in each piece.
